• Strengths: Resourceful After living so long on Jakku, Rey has learned to be resourceful from a young age. She's someone who sees solutions where others might not. For most of her life until she found Finn, the only person Rey has ever really been able to rely on is herself, and that shows in everything about her. Even when she’s confronted with things after she joins the Resistance, Rey still maintains her resourcefulness.
Loyal When we first met Rey, she is insistent on staying on Jakku even though her piloting skills show that she could have left whenever she wanted to. Despite escaping the planet during a First Order attack, Rey still wants to go back to the planet because she’s waiting in vain for a family that won’t return. However her circle of loyalty expands with the people that she meets. After everything, Rey becomes loyal to Finn to the point where she’d risk her life to try and safe his going head to head with Kylo Ren over it. Her circle also extends to Han and they bond to a point that his death is deeply personal to her to the point where she wants vengeance for it. But perhaps the oddest sense of loyalty is the one to Ben Solo. Even in TLJ, Rey feels loyal to him, but not to Kylo. She wants to bring him back to the light through their connections even when he does stupid things. Even when they’re at their most vicious and fighting, there’s still that nagging loyalty to Ben that Rey can’t shake even though she wants too. Eventually her loyalty grows to include the entire Resistance, especially to Luke, Leia and those she is closely personal with. In the absence of her biological family the Resistance becomes one for her.
A Strong Sense of belief: Even before knowing that the stories of the Jedi and the Force are real, Rey believes in them. Of course, at the beginning they're nothing more than just a young woman's belief in a story, but when she discovers that they're real, the belief only grows. Rey believes in the message of the Resistance, and she believes in Leia Organa. She believes (even when she shouldn't) that Luke Skywalker is going to save the galaxy through his being a jedi. And of course it goes without saying that Rey believes that she can be the one to bring Ben back, and that he's still there inside of him: light that needs to be fed in order to stop the darkness from devouring it.
• Weaknesses: Stubborn To say that Rey is stubborn is an understatement, really. Because that's like saying that a star is heavy in it's orbit. She's stubborn and refuses to listen to the calmer voices both inside herself and around her. When Rey believes that she's right, she was buckle down and use the considerable strength inside of her to commit to a singular purpose.
Rash: While Rey is strong and loyal, there are times when she does things without thinking them through. She's rash in a way that manifests in both small ways are large. She's rash in the way that she throws herself into danger when she really shouldn't do it, because she can't be talked out of things. Rey throws herself into situations that other people would look at and go "oh fuck no." Like getting into the escape to go to try and convince Ben to turn and he doesn't need to bow to Snoke. Other examples of this come when she uses force lighting trying to prevent the ship that she thinks having Chewbacca on it or when she burns the ship and refuses to go looking for Palpatine and attempts to go into exile like Luke had done before her.
Wavering self confidence Rey’s one true fear has always been darkness within herself and that becomes turned up to a thousand when she discovers the truth of the linage and how she’s directly descended from the evil Emperor Palpatine. After the incident with the force lightening and after the way that she mortaly wounds Ben after the death of Leia Organa, Rey starts immediately questioning her worth. Even with a pep talk from her dead Master, when Rey goes to help her friends she believes that sacrificing herself to Palpatine’s plan is the best way to save those she loves, even if it’s at the cost of herself, her true internal identity and the galaxy itself.
• Nightmares: Her dark self: turning into what her grandfather wanted her to be. An galaxy where the Resistance loses and the Sith rule
• Network sample: [Rey doesn’t like it here. She’s already tried to remove the little golden disk from behind her ear without success and it bothers her because she should be able to do it. More than that, even though she used to feeling Ghosts around her, this place feels very different and she’s not sure if it’s want or if it’s actually happening. But when the video start, the girl looks calm and composed. She’s dressed in white and has an odd long staff on her back.]
I don’t understand how I got here, but I am planning on not staying here long. So if someone knows how to find a transport off this planet, I would appreciate it.
[A pause and then she asks with a more urgent tone:]
I’m looking for any members of the Resistance who are here. Please contact me if you are.
